Rohde & Schwarz signal analyzers equipped for the WLAN IEEE 802.11n standard
The R&S®FSQ-K91N application firmware adapts the R&S®FSQ and R&S®FSG signal analyzers from Rohde & Schwarz to WLAN IEEE 802.11n, the expansion of the WLAN IEEE 802.11a, g standards. WLAN networks based on the IEEE 802.11n standard promise throughput rates of up to 600 Mbit/s as well as a range of up to 250 meters.
To be able to develop and test devices and modules that support the new standard, all the major parameters of the 802.11n standard must be tested and it must be made certain that downward compatibility to WLAN IEEE 802.11a, g is ensured. The flexible, scalable solution that Rohde & Schwarz provides with the modular platforms of the R&S®FSQ and R&S®FSG signal analyzers offers users a large number of application scenarios. Engineers can respond quickly to new developments of the standard, since expansions such as 802.11n do not require them to familiarize themselves with new T&M equipment and functionality. The R&S®FSQ-K91 option covers the requirements of the IEEE 802.11a, g standards; for the 802.11n expansion, the R&S®FSQ-K91N option is required in addition.
In combination with a signal analyzer of the R&S®FSQ family, the new firmware can be used to measure not only the modulation characteristics of WLAN signals but also spectral characteristics such as spectrum mask, spurious emissions and adjacent channel power. In addition, if equipped with the appropriate application software, the analyzer offers a demodulation bandwidth of up to 120 MHz, which makes data available for further analysis. The R&S®FSQ K91N option supports SISO applications and, as of July 2008, MIMO as well. The R&S®FSQ B72 option makes it possible to analyze signals up to 40 MHz; the R&S®FSG base unit supports measurements up to 20 MHz.
Last but not least, ease of operation and an all-in-one solution are two further reasons for purchasing Rohde & Schwarz products.
