Air-cooled medium-power transmitters from Rohde & Schwarz cut energy costs up to 15 percent
Munich, Apr 24, 2008 - Rohde & Schwarz presents its new R&S Nx8300 air-cooled medium-power transmitters. Depending on the digital standard, the output power of the transmitters is up to 1.8 kW in a single rack. The medium-power transmitter family has been designed with a new energy-efficiency concept developed by Rohde & Schwarz that reduces operating costs considerably compared to products currently available on the market. In addition, the compact design lowers space-related costs. The transmitter family supports analog as well as digital TV standards such as ATSC, MediaFLOTM, DMB-T, DVB-T/-H, ISDB-TB. It is already prepared for standards such as A-VSB, a technology that Rohde & Schwarz is playing a major role in developing.
New amplifier technology and the optimized cooling made it possible to reduce energy consumption by up to 15 percent. The transmitters can be operated in both three-phase and single-phase supply networks. This makes it easier to integrate the R&S Nx8300 into the existing infrastructure of broadcasting as well as mobile-radio networks.
The transmitters can be converted from analog to digital quickly and easily. To maximize fail-safe operation, all conventional redundancy concepts can be implemented. The cooling concept of the R&S Nx8300 offers six possibilities for air intake and exhaust and can thus be integrated into the infrastructure of the transmitter building without much installation effort. The transmitter system can be operated via the integrated panel and color display of the R&S NetCCU800 control unit. Remote maintenance and diagnostics are performed via web browser or SNMP protocol.
Transmitters configured for the ATSC standard feature output power from 450 W to 1.8 kW. For DVB-T/-H, MediaFLOTM and DMB-T, the output power ranges from 300 W to 1.8 kW. With analog standards, the transmitter has a power of 750 W to 2.8 kW.
The medium-power transmitters of the R&S Nx8300 family are now available from Rohde & Schwarz.
