Medium-power transmitter from Rohde & Schwarz for outdoor use
Munich, May 06, 2008 - A medium-power transmitter from Rohde & Schwarz is now available as the R&S NV8303VO outdoor version. Its components are enclosed in a compact weather- and temperature-proof housing. The transmitter is largely independent of the existing infrastructure and can be used in virtually inaccessible areas. It can be installed quickly and is especially well-suited for setting up new mobile-TV or pilot-test networks. The transmitter supports the ATSC, MediaFLOTM, DMB-T, DVB-T/-H digital standards, as well as standards such as A-VSB, a technology that Rohde & Schwarz is playing a major role in developing.
Since the transmitter site can be selected by the user, the R&S NV8303VO closes coverage gaps with minimum effort. It can be placed exactly where it is needed to achieve optimum signal coverage. For emergency use in case a main transmitter fails or needs to be serviced, it can be set up anywhere and connected to the network.
The transmitter was developed based on the tried-and-tested energy-efficiency concept from Rohde & Schwarz. It has an output power of up to 900 W and reduces energy costs up to 15 percent due to its low power consumption. In addition, the R&S NV8303VO operates on a single-phase power supply and can be easily integrated into all power networks.
On-site installation requires minimum effort because the transmitter can be delivered ready-to-operate. The rack offers ample space for customer-specific equipment but its compact size allows the transmitter to be transported to roofs of buildings via standard elevators. This reduces the logistics effort involved in installing the transmitter.
The R&S NV8303VO is easy to maintain. It is either heated or cooled with an air conditioner. Since the cooling system is redundant, the standby cooling takes over in case of failure. The transmitter is monitored by remote control via the R&S NetCCU800 central control unit. This makes it possible to immediately determine whether on-site service is necessary.
The R&S NV8303VO outdoor transmitter will be available from Rohde & Schwarz as of June 2008.
