Quality assurance and service
Due to its excellent price/performance ratio, the R&S® SFE is ideally suited for service and quality assurance applications. A typical configuration for this contains − besides the R&S® SFE mainframe − a real-time coder and the transport stream generator including the R&S SDTV stream library. This makes it possible to generate test pattern and live video content. The AWGN generator simulates real-world signal conditions. Additionally, the TRP player can be included to replay customer-specific transport streams.
Analog TV set testing
Despite the introduction of digital TV in many countries, there is still a significant market for analog TV receivers. Although limited to three real-time coders, the R&S® SFE with the new multi-ATV coder and integrated audio/video generator is an attractive solution for testing analog TV sets.
Receiver development
Although the R&S® SFE does not feature fading and interference simulators like the high-end R&S® SFU broadcast test system, it is still a versatile instrument for many lab applications. Besides the mainframe and the real-time coders, a typical configuration of the R&S® SFE for receiver development contains a transport stream generator, noise generator, and bit error ratio measurement option. The noise generator and BER tester make it easy to record the BER-vs.-C/N traces of the receiver. The transport stream generator includes the R&S SDTV stream library. A TRP player can be added to replay customer-specific transport streams.
