STIMI
To create a uniform standard for mobile TV reception in China, the Chinese broadcasting authority ruled that the mobile broadcasting operators must implement a uniform TV standard. The Chinese developed the standard titled Satellite Terrestrial Interactive Multiservice Infrastructure (STiMi) specifically for this purpose. The use of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with 4k/1k mode in 8 MHz/2 MHz bandwidth channels and powerful error-protection mechanisms predestined STiMi for use as a transmission standard for mobile applications. Both satellite transmission in the S band and terrestrial transmission are specified according to the standard.
