Rohde & Schwarz developed the R&S®KGO880 specifically
for meeting the broadcasting transmission requirements
at low-infrastructure sites. Fitted with a air-conditioned
system, the housing provides an ideal ambient
temperature for the installed transmitters, enabling them
to be deployed worldwide. The air-condition system is
equipped with a temperature-driven compressor that adjusts its speed automatically depending on the ambient
temperature and the devices installed. Besides saving
energy costs, this enables additional equipment to be
installed in the housing without requiring changes to the
air-condition system.
The outdoor shelter´s exceptionally compact size and low weight mean that it can be transported in standard elevators. The R&S®KGO880 can be set up on roofs or close to roads, for example, to provide coverage for mobile reception quickly and inexpensively.
The new housing is ideal for the R&S®SCx8000, a lowto-medium-power transmitter with an output power of up to 1400 W (ATV). The R&S®KGO880 is also suitable for television and audio broadcasting in the lowest power range. Output power of up to 250 W (ATV) is possible with R&S®SLx8000 transmitters and R&S®XLx8000 transposers, for example. In FM applications, the compact R&S®SR8000 family, capable of an output power up to 2.5 kW, is the right choice. The housing can also accommodate multiple transmitters.
Various options, including lightning protection, smoke
detectors and lighting, are available for the outdoor housing, enhancing its flexibility. The R&S®KGO880 can also be used to house other equipment in 19" design and suitable cooling technology.
