Rohde & Schwarz and Signalion start with interoperability tests of LTE test platforms

Jun 17, 2008 - Rohde & Schwarz and Signalion announced the start of a series of interoperability tests (IOT) sessions for their LTE test equipment. These tests are used by both companies to verify their compliance with the current status of LTE standardization.

Rohde & Schwarz was the first supplier on the market with test solutions for LTE signal generation and analysis. Furthermore, the R&S® CMW500 LTE protocol tester facilitates all stages of UMTS LTE UE physical layer and protocol stack development according to 3GPP Release 8 LTE specifications − from early R&D integration to final LTE UE conformance and certification testing.

By offering its SORBAS test product series, Signalion provides an air-interface test system for functional and load tests of LTE infrastructure equipment.

It is therefore vital to ensure interoperability between test equipment from different vendors. Both companies are members of the LTE/SAE Trial Initiative (LSTI). The objective of this joint initiative is to drive the implementation of the next generation of high performance mobile broadband networks based on 3GPP LTE. The series of IOT sessions between the two measurement equipment manufacturers provides a reliable basis for LTE field trials and the commercialization of LTE. Moreover, it will help ensure further IOT milestones and time to market.
