FTS4BT™ Bluetooth® v. 2.1 + EDR PC-based Protocol Analyzer and Sniffer
(NOT distributed in North America & Japan.)
FTB4BT™ (Frontline Test System® for Bluetooth®) is a USB dongle developed in conjunction with CSR (Cambridge Silicon Radio) that is the market's first protocol analyzer for Bluetooth® version 2.1 + EDR. It can be used together with Rohde & Schwarz products such as the R&S® PTW, R&S® CBT, and R&S® CMU200, thus making these instruments even more valuable.
By analyzing the application protocols and interoperability of Bluetooth® devices, FTB4BT™ complements the measurements of physical RF parameters performed by the R&S® CMU200 and the protocol programming capability offered by the R&S® PTW.
Even though the Frontline® Bluetooth® protocol analyzer also decodes the baseband, it is primarily oriented toward the software development of the higher layers. The baseband is of minor importance in this aspect, where all efforts are focused on the software application around the chip involved − and that's the field of main application and strength of Frontline®'s Bluetooth® protocol analyzer.
For application debugging, FTS4BT™ is used as a tool to figure out what is taking place in the messaging in realtime.
FTS4BT™ is also used for verification. In contrast to the Rohde & Schwarz qualification and compliance test, "verification" is more a functional test of a Bluetooth® device. The Bluetooth® Special Interest Group (SIG) designates specialized organizations as Bluetooth Qualification Bodies (BQB). In order to qualify Bluetooth® products (chips, mobile phones, PDAs, etc), the BQB verifies the received documentation (referred to as "evidence") that shows that the product functions properly and conforms to the Bluetooth® specification. FTS4BT™ is used to produce this documentation by capturing the traffic and then processing the evidence for the BQB.
Frontline® products can be purchased from Rohde & Schwarz representatives worldwide except in North America and Japan.
